Prevent Budget and Schedule Overruns with Installation Supervision Services

Construction Advisor Service

R-V Industries has decades of experience manufacturing equipment for coal and natural gas-fired power plants. For utilities, that is only one part of the true project scope. Installation of new and removal of old equipment is a frequent cause of budget and schedule overrun.

To address this, R-V Power Team offers installation advisory services for R-V equipment projects.  Our construction advisors are power generation experts with knowledge of utility processes, acquired through years of in-plant experience.

Our construction advisor will assist your contractor with the installation of R-V supplied equipment by making recommendations on the removal of existing equipment and the installation of the new equipment including what needs to be saved and what can be discarded.  For a coal and air nozzle tip installation, for example, the advisor will check for proper nozzle clearances after the installation and set up and stroke the tilting mechanism making sure everything is moving smoothly.

Using R-V’s construction advisors will:

Field Installation Advice on Stationary Nozzles
  • Free up plant staff from contractor questions on the R-V equipment installation, allowing plant personnel to concentrate on other outage issues.
  • Provide quick, direct communication with R-V’s Power team to expedite the resolution of any custom installation issues.
  • Reduce potential construction budget overruns and outage extensions.
  • Provide detailed daily reports highlighting any emergency concerns.
  • Provide insurance against schedule delays without sacrificing installation quality.

Boiler Tuning and Optimization

After the installation, R-V can also provide tuning and optimization for boiler efficiency by addressing the following:

  • Ensure all dampers and tilts are working properly to optimize combustion.
  • Compare actual firing conditions to predicted or guaranteed conditions.
  • Observe furnace conditions at varying load points along with balancing load vs emissions and/ or steam temperatures.
  • Work with different operators (on-site training) to explain why we are doing what we are doing to improve emissions or efficiency throughout the load range.
  • Provide detailed daily reports to inform all parties of progress.
